Launceston Driving School
Producing Safer Drivers!
Producing Safer Drivers!
Our Vision - to create a more enjoyable motoring experience, we are well placed to provide novice drivers with a method of learning a safe, courteous method of driving in today's traffic environment.
Our Mission - to produce drivers that are safer, more courteous and more aware.
At Launceston Driving School, we do not consider the training of novice drivers as simply an exercise in making money. Certainly we must charge for our services so as to make a living, but the 'job satisfaction' we feel when our students absorb what we teach them is immense, And when we see a definite improvement in their skills and habits, well that justifies the low key, low intensity style of delivery we use.
We will not rush our learners. We will discourage learners from racing out to do their P1 PDA if they are not ready..
An important part of a novice driver's education is not just the input by Launceston Driving School staff, but also the time taken to consolidate new skills with the driving done away from our formal lessons, to the informal driving with their Supervisor Drivers.
The 'Keys 2 Drive' Program
A Supervisor may be Mum or Dad or Uncle Bob or big brother or sister. Allowing the learner to 'Follow Their Own Way' is a relatively new training concept promoted by the Keys 2 Drive program, which includes a 'free' driving lesson - but is more than just a driving lesson!
Keys 2 Drive is funded by the Federal Government in conjunction with the Automobile Associations of Australia, which includes the Royal Automobile Club of Tasmania.
Keys 2 Drive is actually coaching in how to learn safe driving, by learning safely, by having the confidence to get started and providing support for the whole learning journey, which doesn't end with the successful assessment for a P1 license - that is just a step in the right direction.
Keys 2 Drive is NOT a regular driving lesson. It is NOT a chance to pick up an hour for your log for free. Nor is it a preparation for a driving test.
Our Driving Instructor Tony, is an accredited Keys 2 Drive Driving Instructor which means he can sit down and talk to registered Keys 2 Drive learners and their supervisor, and explain the aim of the 'Follow Your Own Way', which is a target of 6 Months - Zero Harm. Its about saving the lives of our younger, newly licensed drivers, who are at the wrong end of the statistical curve when it comes to casualty accidents.
If you have registered with Keys 2 Drive and have received a K2D Free Lesson ID number, contact us here at Launceston Driving School for your Keys 2 Drive Free Lesson. - and don't forget to register for the free Plates Plus driving lesson, sponsored by the Tasmanian State Government.
